When you're over-functioning in relationships at work or in private life because at the core you believe you need to do more to have good things coming your way.
Over-giving and over-doing in relationships stems from an ingrained doubt about someones worthiness or deservingness. It's fueled by a fear of loss and fear of abandonment. Over-functioning gives off a signal that you do not value yourself often resulting in not-so-happy relationships in which you feel undesired, unimportant, ignored or unloved. Restoring your value in your own eyes will put a stop to over-functioning and poor treatment from others.
